Chárakas: The English equivalent would be Ruler or, more commonly referred to as Alpha. It is the male rank attained by the individual who lays claim to a territory and is the ruling voice of the pack. The single most important entity who can overrule any others who oppose him within his grounds.
Vasílissa: The female companion to the Chárakas the equivalent to an Alpha Female. As the Queen she receives the utmost respect and her power is nearly equal to that of her mates. However, there has never been an instance within the Diavolos that a female has taken the throne alone.
Profitis: This rank is not gender biased, males and females have been able to obtain this position within the pack. This wolf, the Prophet, communes with the pack God and receives messages occasionally. They are also the Healers of the pack and take on the duty of monitoring the health of pregnant females. It is not a law but it is preferred that if a female attains this rank that they do mate. This is not to say they cannot have a lover, but they are not to copulate for risk of becoming pregnant and dividing their attention between their young and their duties to the pack.
Paidí: The Paidi, or child of the rulers. This wolf is selected from the litter as the heir to the pack.
Vita Kýrie: The Beta male. The wolf that oversees the events happening within the pack structure has the authority to command the packs militia and its generals. He is often the one to set up the patrols and assign mentors to the young.
Vita Chásete: The Beta female. She may or may not be the mate to the beta male, it is not necessary for them to be. She acts as second to the male counterpart and picks up any duties that need tending to.
Gamma Kýrie & Chásete: They are not necessarily mates but they are likely the wolves to inherit the Vita position if the current ones fall due to illness or are killed.
Dimios: The Executioner. This wolf can be male or female. They are the only wolf in the pack that can kill within the structure without having to report it so long as they believe the one whom they kill is a threat to the Alphas. During a judging ceremony or trial, if the individual is found guilty the Dimios attend the meeting and kill the convicted.
Genikós: The General. Commander to the Militia this wolf can be male or female.
Dipló: The Double, or the Deputy, they are the equivalent to a Lieutenant within the pack ranks.
Frourá: The Guard. The warriors of the pack. They take orders from the higher Court and obey them without fail They are the elite in terms of fighting and are often seen following their commanders or, on occasion, the Alphas or betas.
Párochos: The Provider. The hunters of the pack, usually the swiftest next to the scouts. It is their duty to secure food for the pack and keep others from stealing their meals.
Rolói: The Watch, These wolves mainly patrol the base and keep a lookout for intruders. They are fighters and do drive out the unwelcome but are mainly the police of the territory.
Mélos: The Member. The members who do not have a set rank or do not have exceptional skills in either hunting or fighting. Their prowess can be used for whatever is necessary.

LEADERS LEADERS
leaders are the heart of the clan; their personality affects how the clan operates and how their soldiers treat one another and the world around them. it is up to the leaders to set a good example and guide their canmates along the path of the soldier code. they are responsible for calling clan meetings, appointing soldiers, mentors, and cadets, and deciding clan policy and strategy with the help of their deputy and any cats they choose to consult for advice (usually the healers, the elders, or senior soldiers).
when a cat becomes leader, he or she must travel to solomons dias with their packs alphas and profitis and there they prey to the gods. the healer accompanies them on the journey but leaves them alone for the ceremony, in which the leader is granted eight extra lives.
when a leader loses a life, he or she blacks out for a short period of time, during which that cat visits Solomon and speaks with its soldier ancestors. on returning to consciousness, the leader must still recover from the injury or illness that felled him or her. healers or a profitis can usually tell how many lives a leader has left, although the number is kept secret from their rival clan and pack. HAS FULL ELEMENTAL POWER.
DEPUTIES
"I say these words before the body of Risque, so that our goddess may hear and approve my choice. Mica will be the new deputy of Inrigo!"
a deputy is chosen by the leader, to assist in taking care of the clan. to qualify, a soldier must have had a cadet and must be strong and brave with the qualities needed to take on leadership of the clan if necessary.
the deputy presides over clan meetings when the leader is absent, stands in for the leader at gatherings with the pack if the leader is ill, organizes daily patrols, and oversees the training of apprentices. when a deputy dies or steps down, the leader must announce a new deputy before moonhigh. HAS BOTH LIGHT ELEMENTAL POWERS.
deputies stop being deputies if: the Clan leader dies, leaving the deputy to take over as leader. the deputy retires and becomes an elder. the deputy commits a crime against the warrior code and is demoted or driven from the Clan. the deputy dies or is killed in battle.
HEALERS
"Archane, do you promise to uphold the ways of a healer, to stand apart from the rivalry between diavolos and angelos, and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." "Then by the powers of Kydai I give you your true name as a healer. Spottedpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Spottedcloud."
no clan could survive without a healer's knowledge of healing herbs and compassion for the sick. in addition, these cats have a spiritual responsibility. their unusually strong connection to Solomon allows them to receive and interpret visions that can guide the clan through dark times.
most healers are born to their destiny. from a young age, these special kits are drawn to the healer's den. they are fascinated by the herbs and often have strange dreams of their own. a medicine cat can spot which kit would make a good apprentice. if the kit agrees, he or she is brought to the sacred space (to either elusion meadow** or solomons dias*) and initiated into the ranks of medicine cats through a secret ceremony with their packs profitis.
the life of a healer is not easy, but it is very rewarding. although healers cannot have a mate or kits, they are beloved and respected by the whole clan. they devote their lives to protecting their clanmates in a way that ordinary soldiers cannot. and they know that there is a special place waiting for them in Solomons chamber. HAS BOTH LIGHT ELEMENTAL POWERS.
SOLDIERS
"I, Nitro, call upon my soldier ancestors to look down upon this cadet. She has trained hard to learn the ways of your noble code, I commend her to you as a soldier in her turn. Umide, do you promise to uphold the soldier code and defend this clan, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." "Then by the powers given to me by Wydarae, I give you your soldier name in honor of your intelligence and courage, I name you Sunfeather. Along with this new name comes a new power, I allow you to choose Earth or Fire, which do you feel most in yourself?" "Earth." "Then let you be known among your fellow clanmates as Sunfeather, Soldier of Earth!"
soldiers are the life-blood of the clan. they patrol the borders of both their territory and their packs, keep the fresh-kill pile supplied, and defend their clanmates and packmates against attacks from the enemy clan and pack or predators. they fight to protect the clan and pack for as long as they are able and are often called upon to mentor cadets, passing on the skills they were taught. GETS CHOICE OF ONE LIGHT ELEMENTAL POWER UPON BECOMING SOLDIER.
CADETS
"By naming apprentices, we show that Ventus will survive and remain strong. From now on until she has earned her soldier name, this cadet will be known as Thrush... Piola you are ready for another apprentice, you will be Thrush's mentor."
before a cat can become a soldier, he or she must be trained to fight and hunt and defend the clan. at the age of six moons, kits leave the nursery and become cadets. The leader assigns each cadet a mentor -- an older soldier to guide the cadet on the path to being a soldier. cadets are responsible for chores around the camp, such as tending to the elders, in addition to their training. if they work hard, listen to their mentors, and live by the soldier code, soon they will earn their soldier name, and hopefully, one day, the chance to be a mentor themselves. DOES NOT HAVE ANY ELEMENTAL POWERS.
ELDERS
"Gem, is it your wish to give up the rank of a soldier and go to join the elders?" "It is." "Terra honors you and all the service you have given us. I call upon Risque to give you many seasons of rest."
the life of a soldier is difficult and dangerous and many die young -- in battle, of disease, or from a natural disaster. those cats lucky enough to live a long life may eventually retire from their soldier duties to become elders. these elderly cats are viewed with the deepest respect by the rest of the clan. many moons of experience make them an invaluable source of advice for the leader, and they keep alive history by passing down the old stories. KEEPS THEIR SOLDIER ELEMENTAL POWER
